Powerball Changes Make More Millionaires!

Change is never easy, but this is a change that will make more millionaires of Powerball players. How do you like that?

Starting January 15th, 2012, Powerball jackpots will start at $40 million. The overall odds of winning a prize are improved to 1 in 31.8. Better yet,  the Match 5 prize will go from $200,000 to $1 million cash! That means more millionaires! The ticket price will also change, moving from $1 to $2.

Ohio joined Powerball in April of 2010, and since then has sold two jackpot winning tickets. Ohio’s first Powerball win was for a $261.6 million jackpot sold June 2, 2010 in Sunbury, Ohio and claimed in trust. The second jackpot worth $97 million was won by a group of Chrysler paint shop workers who purchased their ticket in Curtice, Ohio. That jackpot was split with Montana.

I’ve already received the emails and comments from players on the price point change. I know, no one wants to pay more, but the change in the game makes for a bigger jackpot and it makes room for more millionaires. If you miss the jackpot by missing the Powerball you still end up a millionaire! That’s exciting! Add the Power Play® multiplier feature for $1 and players have the chance to win $2 million cash for the Match 5 prize.

Don’t forget, the enriched Powerball game will debut on January 15, 2012 with the first drawing on January 18, 2012. Tickets in the game will cost $2 and the Power Play® multiplier feature will still be available for an extra $1 per play.
