If you have never been in a television studio, you better make sure you get to one of our Cash Explosion shows! Now is your chance to be a part of the audience during the show’s 25th anniversary!
I spent the day in Columbus for the first two tapings of Cash Explosion’s 25th Anniversary shows. Over the years the show has seen a lot of changes, but the one thing that has always remained the same is the contestants. They’re real Ohioans with real stories.
We are so proud of Cash Explosion! Did you know that every player walks away with at least $5,000, though most end up winning much more than that! Our players aren’t “casted”, they’re real people who sent in their entry tickets in hopes of getting on the show.
We kicked off the 25 Weeks of Cash Explosion winning with two show tapings which will air on March 3 and March 10. Sixteen people from all across the Buckeye State had the chance to stand behind the podium, select from the big board, and win! I love hearing the stories about how they got there and what they plan to do with their winnings. Sometimes it’s as simple as renovating a bathroom or buying a new car, and other times that money is life changing.
Since we’re celebrating a silver anniversary, we invited news crews from our carrier stations along to get a behind the scenes look at what goes in to making Cash Explosion such a success. We had crews from WTOV in Steubenville, WSYX in Columbus, WTVG in Toledo and WKYC in Cleveland there to talk to the contestants, the audience and our spectacular co-hosts.

Of course, these shows are extra special because we’ve added a few new things to the game. There are bigger prizes on the board and a new championship round we’re calling the Cash Challenge.
Our audience is spectacular too. Not only do they help cheer on the players, they’re helping Cash Explosion’s Facing Hunger Campaign. Audience members dropped off non-perishable food items at the studio, and we take them to Ohio’s Second Harvest Foodbanks. Since November, we have collected over 2,000 pounds of food, and we’ll keep collecting all the way through May! We’re hoping to set a record.
There will be plenty of fun when the first 25th anniversary show airs on March 3, 2012. You won’t want to miss it!
