Inside Look at Scioto Downs

There is a lot happening at Scioto Downs in Columbus. As the horses race around the track, there are construction crews racing around the property putting the finishing touches on the racetrack’s new Video Lottery Terminal facility.

I got the chance to get a sneak peek at the facility, and I came back with some photos that show just how the project is coming along! Ignore the occasional dumpster or construction gear in the photos. I assure you, they’ll all be gone when the doors officially open!

Scioto Downs is the first racetrack in Ohio to become a licensed video lottery terminal (VLT) retailer under the Ohio Lottery’s Video Lottery Terminal program. The facility is set to open at 2pm on June 1, 2012 with 1,800 VLTs.

The inside of the new building looks great! When you walk in you get an elevated view of the floor with 1,800 VLTs. It’s hard to fit then entire floor into one picture, so I’ve posted a few so you can get the lay of the land. When phase two is complete later this summer, there will be an additional 400 VLTs and a 300 seat buffet.

The design is both elegant and cool with marble countertops at each of Scioto Downs three lounge areas. Game play won’t be limited to the machines you see on the floor. The bars at the High Limit Lounge and the Veil Bar also have built in terminals. Each lounge has comfy couches and chairs and a view of the action on the floor so you can take a break, catch up with friends or just people watch!

There are also two complimentary drink stations where players can grab a soft drink on the house.

Opening day should be a lot of fun! Check out the excitement at Scioto Downs Racetrack! The doors to the new facility open on June 1, 2012 at 2pm.
