It’s always good to get out of the office, and yesterday I got to take a trip to Thistledown Racino in North Randall. The horse racing business has had many, many years there, but this spring they’ll add something else to the mix with gaming and live entertainment.
Crews are busy working on the newly renovated space for more than 1,000 video lottery terminals (VLTs) which will be ready for play in a few months. The 57,000 sq. ft. gaming floor is already taking shape with many VLTs already in place.
The local media got a little behind-the-scenes tour from Thistledown Racino General Manager Rick Skinner. Skinner walked them through all of the details of the $88 million project from the number of VLTs that will be on the floor to the different kinds of dining options they’ll offer.
Thistledown Racino will be the second to open in Ohio under the Ohio Lottery’s VLT program. Scioto Downs in Columbus opened last June.
