The Hotdog or the Hamburger?

Hotdog vs hamburgerAre you ready for your July 4th cookout? Do you have enough propane? How about charcoal? Paper plates? No doubt grill enthusiasts across the state are crossing everything off their list to make sure the weekend fun goes off without a hitch!

From ribs and steaks to chicken, burgers and corn, you can put a lot of different foods on the grill, but it seems that the staples you find at every cookout are good old fashioned hamburgers and hotdogs.

According to the National Hotdog and Sausage Council (who knew there was one?), Americans purchase 350 million pounds of hot dogs at retail stores. That’s a staggering 9 billion hotdogs! Add in the hotdogs served at sporting events, picnics and festivals and the number gets even bigger. The Council estimates Americans consume 20 billion hot dogs a year. That’s a lot of hotdogs!

We hope no matter what your weekend cookout menu includes, you have fun! Enjoy the Fourth of July weekend… and don’t forget the ketchup!
