Ceremonial End of Summer-Labor Day Celebrations in Full Swing

Happy Labor Day! State and federal offices are closed in celebration of the holiday and that includes our lottery offices. Don’t worry though you can still buy tickets at your local Ohio Lottery retailer!

labor_day_1People around the country are celebrating the holiday that started out in 1894 when the United States and Canada set a day aside to honor the working class, and it’s been a national holiday ever since. Labor Day is always the first Monday in September, a day chosen to give workers a break in between the Independence Day and Thanksgiving holidays.

Labor Day is a day tied to all of us. For many it’s the ceremonial end of summer, and a time to get that last slab of ribs on the grill for that last extended weekend. One last trip to the beach, picnics, parades and fireworks before daylight shrinks and the calendar fades into fall. Or maybe it’s a new beginning for you. Kids go back to school, form new friendships and rekindle old ones. Football fans might see it as the start of a new season, and a chance for their team to go the distance!

Whether you’re working or not today, we hope you find time to enjoy this last little bit of summer. Comment here and let us know how you’re celebrating the day!
