It’s that time of year when you’re rushing around looking for the perfect gift, and while lottery tickets can be great gift add-ons we want you to be a responsible giver. The Ohio Lottery Commission has joined lotteries worldwide urging adults not to purchase lottery products for underage minors.
Each year, as one of many responsible gambling initiatives, the Ohio Lottery encourages players to give responsibly during the holidays. Once again, we are sending out a friendly reminder to keep a person’s age in mind when gift giving. By law, you must be 18 years of age to play Ohio Lottery games.
“We are pleased to once again participate in this holiday campaign. Lottery tickets make great gifts or stocking stuffers for responsible players, as long as they’re not under the age of 18. We encourage our players to have fun while playing responsibly,” said Dennis Berg, Ohio Lottery Executive Director.
There is strong evidence suggesting that 70 to 80 percent of adolescents report having gambled for money in the past year; approximately 30 percent report gambling on a weekly basis, and current problem gamblers report beginning gambling during childhood, ages 9-10.
Please gift responsibly this holiday season.
