BELPRE, OH- As a Lottery retailer, when you make it a priority to have well-trained employees, you get years of good results. Dan Stephan, owner of Peoples News & Book Mart, started that way when he became a retailer in 1985. The business, located at 142 Washington Boulevard, has always been a top Lottery retailer in the district ever since. The Ohio Lottery begins the year recognizing Peoples News & Book Mart as Retailer-of-the-Week for the week of January 2, 2017.
Promoting the Ohio Lottery, the business displays signage inside and out. They have a playing area that includes tables, Lottery products and free coffee. Their annual appreciation day includes free hot dogs, popcorn and Spin-n-Win promotions. Greeting customers a soon as they enter, employees make sure they keep them informed of new games, and go the extra mile in providing excellent customer service.
Tonia Reed, the store manager, describes the business as a fun place that is service oriented with knowledgeable employees. She says whether selling or cashing tickets, customer satisfaction is priority.
“We work on providing an enjoyable environment to play Lottery games,” she said. “Our employees know the games, jackpots and promotions.”
Peoples News & Book Mart carries 70 instant games and their weekly selling average is $25,000 for instant and on-line games. To their credit, they have sold a $100,000 Rolling Cash 5 and a $100,000 Cleveland Indians instant.
Peoples News & Book Mart will be recognized on Cash Explosion®, the Ohio Lottery’s TV game show, on January 7. Washington County residents can tune into Cash Explosion® on their local cable stations. The Cash Explosion show is carried on 13 stations across the state every Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
