Tobacco Island is April 10, 2017 Retailer-of-the-Week

TOLEDO –Within one year, Tobacco Island increased sales by 28 percent. Carol Belknap and Gail Durczynski own this business at 714 Dearborn Avenue in Toledo. The Ohio Lottery is pleased to recognize Tobacco Island as Retailer-of-the-Week for the week of April 10, 2017.

“They are enjoyable to visit; they have a pretty enthusiastic sales team,” says Lisa Brackett, their Lottery sales representative. “The clerks will ask for the sale, they are always friendly and have a great attitude.  In just a year, overall sales increased 28 percent, with instants up by 18 percent.

Tobacco Island is a family-run business that has been selling Lottery tickets for five years. Ninety-nine percent of their customers have been customer for years. They provide prompt and friendly service. They have a dedicated Lottery play area for scratching and watching KENO. They use social media to promote new games and inform customers of winners. Using social media attracts more players.

They describe their business as fun with an atmosphere full of winning anticipation. Tobacco Island carries 34 instant games. Weekly sales average $7,363 for instant and online games.

Tobacco Island will be recognized on Cash Explosion®, the Ohio Lottery’s TV game show, on April 15, 2017. Lucas County residents can tune into Cash Explosion® on WTVG -ABC Channel 13 in Toledo. The Cash Explosion show is carried on 13 stations across the state every Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
