Ohio is full of amazing teachers and students, and every month Partners in Education recognizes a few of those individuals. Here are the January Teacher of the Month and Academic All Star recipients.
Teacher of the Month Shelly Byers, teaches at Liberty Union Thurston Elementary. Byers is described as going “above and beyond” in the school. She can be seen at volleyball, basketball, and softball games cheering her students on to a victory. Shelly is a dedicated caring teacher who makes a difference in the children’s lives.
Taylor Bowling, a teacher at Morrison-Gordon Elementary, is described as a “wonderful kindergarten teacher” who engages her students and makes learning fun. Taylor is loved by parents and students alike, and is a “wonderful asset” to the school and district.
Jennifer Mollenkopf is a band, choir, and drama teacher at East Palestine Middle School. “In addition to the band and choir, Mrs. Mollenkopf does a fantastic job with the drama department. From one act plays to musicals, our drama department is one of the best in the area and provides entertainment for our community to enjoy,” says Elizabeth Sherry, a guidance counselor at the school.
Our first Academic All Star for January is Katherine Burtch, a kind, hard working fourth grader at Paulding Elementary. Katherine is described as a “pleasure to have in class.”
Lily Brazie, a student at Milton-Union Middle School, is known to try her best in school and is described as “helpful and attentive.” She encourages other students around her to try their best and do well in school.
Ivan Smith, is a seventh grader at Teays Valley West Middle School. The school’s assistant principal Allison Swanger says, “Ivan is always happy, positive, and a joy to be around.”
Isabella Folio, an Academic All Star recipient from James A. Garfield Middle School, is described as an extraordinary student. Vanessa Shafer, a math teacher in the building, says, “Academically, she strives for perfection, demonstrates strong analytical skills and challenges herself to learn beyond course content.”
Hannah Cunningham is an Academic All Star that attends East Palestine Middle School. She is on the honor roll and has good attendance. “Her work ethic in the classroom is fantastic. In addition to being an asset in the classroom, Hannah is an amazing athlete,” says Elizabeth Sherry, a guidance counselor at the school.
